The Attrition Buster Workshop

The Attrition Buster Workshop is a one-hour journey packed with fun, powerful information, and useful tools proven to impact attrition rates. It leaves the audience energized and inspired. It is a workshop for today.

The Attrition Buster Workshop is

Fun
The workshop begins like an old-fashioned pep rally. Everyone willingly participates. Funny but true stories are told. Examples are given. Games are played. Outragouse demonstrations are preformed. It is just pure fun.

Different
Most learning style information asks the instructor to do more. This workshop asks the instructor to do less. It is a radical idea that works. When the reasonability for learning is shared between the student and the instructor wonderful things happen.

Helpful
Teachers today are feeling overwhelmed by their jobs. Their students are so dependent that the very joy of their job is being killed. This workshop puts an end to all this. It shows the instructor how very simply they can regain the joy, the success, and the satisfaction. And it is not just theory.

Credible
Everything that is talked about is backed up with fact and statistics. The fact that Hind Community College dropped their attrition rates from 80% to 8% and Queensborough Community College dropped theirs from 50% to 15% using this program is proof enough.

Timely
We are facing a great crisis in education today. Our students just do not know how to learn. All they know how to do is memorize and regurgitate. It is a scary proposition. This program is about producing tangible results in the environment that now exists.

To the Point

This workshop first makes the point that students are failing because they don't know how to learn. It also makes the point that as a result teachers have been taking on more of the responsibly for their students' success.

Then it is shown why This imbalance doesn't work.

A two-pronged solution is suggested.

The first prong involves throwing the responsible for learning back on to the students' shoulders by having them learn the YOU ARE SMARTER THAN YOU THINK learning system.

The second prong involves the instructor. The point is made that we are not teaching the way we were designed to teach. We have been so focused on the students that we have forgotten how to be effective instructors.

Using the model presented in the YASTYT book, the participants discover their teaching strengths and then demonstrations are done to illiterate how those strengths can be used in the classroom to make a huge difference.

Finally each participant is given a personalized plan for implementing what was discussed followed by a moving object lesson.

Inspirational
This workshop gives people hope. It makes them feel good about what they are doing. It puts them intouch with why they got into teaching in the first place. It leaves them uplifted with a plan in their hand that they can take action on the next day and make a difference.

The Breakout Session

This workshop is designed to go hand-in-hand with the Attrition Buster Workshop. It lasts three hours and teaches in a true workshop style the nuts and bolts of applying the You Are Smarter Than You Think learning system.

The Breakout Workshop is

Perfect
After being inspired by the Attrition Buster Workshop, participants can get down to the nitty gritty of attrition busting with this workshop. It is hands on fun. The participants love it and they love what they get from it.

Exactly like the Original You Are Smarter Than You Think Workshop Only shorter.
It is. The Breakout Session is three hours and the original YASTYT Workshop is five hours. This shortened version allows the participant to learn everything they need to know about the YASTYT learning system in a condensed format.

Cost-effective
The three hour Breakout Session costs $75.00 per participant and each participant receives a copy of the You Are Smarter Than You Think book. The enrollment for the Breakout Workshop is limited to 35 people and they must have attended the Attrition Buster Workshop first. There are no additional costs.

This is the original workshop. It is a comprehensive hands-on experience that leaves the participants with all the tools necessary to fully implement the YOU ARE SMARTER THAN YOU THINK! Program. It is fun. It is self-revealing and very very helpful. It is a perfect stand alone workshop.

You Are Smarter Than You Think Workshop is

Comprehensive

This workshop first looks at the problem of attrition from all sides.

It then makes the case for helping students to learn in long-term memory.

Then the participants are taken through the entire YASTYT book as though they were students.

They take the two self-evaluations to find out how their brains function best.

Then step-by-step they are taken through the program experientially so that they understand how to apply the steps in the program when reading, studying, taking notes, and taking tests.

When the workshop is over, every participant will know how to use the YASTYT learning system and book.

Experiental
This is a workshop workshop. Meaning it is not about just theory but the participants are actively involved. Every idea that is presented is tried by the participants They will understand the workings of the YASTYT program intimately.
